Getting Started
Fixed by Design is a Fabric modpack that redesigns several Minecraft Survival systems. It is not a kitchen sink pack and it does not add a tech tree. The world you load looks like Minecraft, plays like Minecraft, and then behaves differently in specific, deliberate places.
This page is the short version of what those places are.
The five things that will surprise you first
Enchanting tables no longer offer three random enchantments. They open a Catalogue listing whatever is stored in the chiseled bookshelves around the table. Read Enchanting.
Sharpness, Protection, Unbreaking and Efficiency do not exist as enchantments. They are smithing templates now. Read Smithing Upgrades.
Firework rockets do not boost elytra flight. Campfires do. Read Elytra Flight.
Dying keeps your gear and half your experience, and wipes your bonus hearts. Read Death.
Ore is scarcer near world spawn. Density climbs back to normal 6000 blocks out. Read Multiplayer.
Your first hour
Nothing about the early game changes. Punch wood, make tools, survive the night.
The first fork in the road arrives when you would normally build an enchanting room. Instead of stacking fifteen bookshelves, you need chiseled bookshelves and books to put in them, and each enchantment you want has to come from somewhere: a village trade, a structure chest, or a loot drop.
The second fork is armor. Because material resistances exist, the leather set you make on day one is genuinely the best fall-damage armor in the game, and gold has the largest enchantment slot budget of any material.
Where things are documented
This wiki explains how to use a mechanic. The Features section explains what changed and why. If you want the reasoning behind a redesign rather than the instructions, that is where to look.
Reporting something
If a mechanic feels wrong, tell us. Send feedback from the website, or run /feedback <message> in game on a server running Fairlands.
Feedback is not a bug report queue. It is the raw material the design process runs on, and every entry is read.
